Argonon is heading north of the border.
The super-indie is expanding into Scotland with the launch of Argonon Scotland, which will be based out of the company’s newly opened office in Glasgow. Argonon’s indie Remedy Productions is also expanding into Scotland and Remedy Scotland will be based out of the same Glasgow office. With this latest expansion, Argonon now has offices in London, Glasgow, New York and Vancouver.
Argonon said that the launch of Glasgow office was designed to develop further programming opportunities for all of the companies under the super-indie’s umbrella. The move builds on Argonon’s current operations in Scotland, where Remedy is producing Fifteen To One for Channel 4 and Leopard Drama are producing kids show EVE for CBBC.
The company is currently head-hunting a “leading industry figure” for the position of Head of Remedy Scotland and Head of Argonon Scotland. The soon-to-be-appointed exec will be based out of the Glasgow office and will report to Remedy’s Chief Creative Officer Tom Blakeson and group CEO James Burstall.
“Our work on Fifteen to One and EVE has demonstrated our commitment to working in Scotland and this timely move will allow us to capitalise on the extensive talent and skills pool north of the border”, said Argonon CEO James Burstall. “The TV market in Scotland is buoyant and this new initiative supports our long term, strategic goal of identifying new and exciting growth opportunities across the group.”
While Remedy Chief Creative Officer Tom Blakeson added: “We’ve been hugely impressed by the skills and facilities in Scotland whilst making Fifteen to One so today’s announcement is a natural development, as we look to build on our factual entertainment successes through further investment.”
