Turner Broadcasting UK has acquired the Conan O’Brien talker Conan for their soon-to-launch general entertainment channel TruTV.
Conan, which airs on the Turner owned cable network TBS in the US, is an hour-long talk show which features interviews with international and Hollywood A-list celebrities, along with stand-up comedy segments and musical performances.
The series has never aired in the UK before and will be a key part of the launch schedule for TruTV, which launches in the UK on Freeview and cable & satellite platforms on Monday August 4th. Conan will air nightly at 11pm on Mondays through Thursdays.
In addition to Conan, other key titles that form part of TruTV UK’s launch schedule include Fear Factor, Ink Master, Redneck Island and Hardcore Pawn: Chicago.
“It’s a huge coup to secure Conan in the UK – in part because of Conan O’Brien being such a brilliant comedian, but also because we can bring interviews with top-class talent that just don’t do the UK talk shows”, said Anthony Lukom, Vice-President and MD of Turner Broadcasting UK.
While Conan O’Brien added: “I’m very excited my show will appear in the UK because my sense of humour has been so inspired by the English — from Python and Black Adder to Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, and comedy legend Gordon Ramsey”.
