Sherlock alum Rupert Graves has joined the cast of BBC One’s Last Tango In Halifax, TVWise has learned.
Created by Sally Wainwright, Last Tango In Halifax follows Alan Buttershaw and Celia Dawson, two widowers in their 70s who, when their grandchildren put them on Facebook, rediscover feelings for one another that are just as intense and beautiful now as they were 60 years ago when they were teenagers. The drama series is produced by Red Production Company and stars Derek Jacobi, Anne Reid, Nicola Walker, Sarah Lancashire, Tony Gardner, Dean Andrews and Ronni Ancona.
Graves has been cast as Gary Jackson, who goes on a date with Gillian but may not be all that he seems. He will appear in the opening episode of season three, which has now entered production in the North of England. Season three picks up with Alan and Celia enjoying their time as a married couple. However, the honeymoon period quickly ends when Alan’s world is shaken by someone from his past, causing a rift between him and his beloved Celia.
“We’re so excited to get everyone back together for the third series of our multi-award winning show and we’re thrilled Rupert’s joined our stellar cast”, said Executive Producer Nicola Shindler. “The continued support and success of this much-loved drama is testament to Sally’s warm and sincere scripts and we can’t wait to show fans what we have in store for the new series.”
