Aaron Ashmore (Warehouse 13), Hannah John-Kamen (Viva Forever) and Luke Macfarlane (Brothers and Sisters) have been cast as the leads in Syfy’s upcoming 10 episode space-advernture series Killjoys.
Killjoys follows a fun-loving, hard living trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multi-planetary class war.
Hannah John-Kamen plays Dutch, a top-level Killjoy who is a much loved and charming presence in her community, with a unique gift for earning people’s trust and respect regardless of their class; Aaron Ashmore plays John Jaqobis, a peacemaker who hates conflict; and Luke Macfarlane stars as D’avin, a handsome, rugged, sarcastic, and incredibly loyal former soldier who is an instant asset to the Killjoy team.
“We’re very fortunate to have these three very talented young actors join the outstanding Killjoys creative team”, said Bill McGoldrick, Syfy’s Executive Vice President of Original Content.
The 10 episode series was created by Lost Girl‘s Michelle Lovretta and was originally commissioned by Canadian broadcaster Space back in October 2013, with Syfy boarding as a co-producer this past April. Temple Street Productions, who produce Orphan Black for Space and BBC America, are producing the series. The executive producers are Lovretta, David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg; while The Vampire Diaries helmer Chris Grismer is attached to direct.
