FX has renewed Louis C.K.’s comedy series Louie for a fifth season.
Created by Louis CK, the off-beat comedy series puts a spotlight on CK’s everyday ordeals, his quest to find love and his pursuit of humor. Each episode features a scripted story and a mix of his stand-up comedy, which is original material for the series. The series is produced by FX Productions and stars CK as a fictionalised version of himself.
The renewal follows the close to two-year hiatus the Emmy Award winning series took between season three and four, which wrapped its run on FX last month. FX has ordered 7 episode for Louie‘s fifth season, which is slated to premiere in Spring 2015.
“Louie’s fourth season was once again groundbreaking. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking – always thought provoking,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks & FX Productions. “The show went to narrative and cinematic places no comedy has gone before and we look forward to seeing what Louis comes up with next.”
