Channel 4 is moving their acquisition Masters of Sex to digi-net More4 for its upcoming second season, which is set to premiere on Tuesday August 5th at 10pm.
Based on Thomas Maier’s book, Masters of Sex follows the real-life pioneers of the science of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson. The series chronicles the unusual lives, romance and pop culture trajectory of Masters and Johnson. Their research touched off the sexual revolution and took them from a mid-western teaching hospital in St. Louis to the cover of Time magazine and nearly a dozen appearances on Johnny Carson’s couch. The drama series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and stars Michael Sheen, Lizzy Caplan, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Nicholas D’Agosto and Teddy Sears.
In the opening episode of the show’s second season, titled Parallax, the ramifications of Masters’ disastrous presentation continue to ripple beyond his firing from Maternity Hospital as Libby, worried about supporting their new baby, pushes him to get another job. Meanwhile, Virginia, still working for Dr. DePaul, must fight off the advances and innuendos stemming from the continued belief that she was the woman in the film. Cast additions for season two include Rene Auberjonois and Courtney B. Vance; while Beau Bridges and Allison Janney are also set to reprise their roles from season one.
