The Rakuten owned TV and movie streaming service Wuaki.tv has released a new app which will allow customers of the service to stream content on Windows 8.1 devices.
The app, which was developed in partnership with Microsoft, allows users to rent or purchase movies and TV series direct to the 8.1 devices. The app is now available to download from Apps For Windows and allows users to stream titles over WiFi. They can also pin entire movies, TV series or individual episodes to the Windows 8.1 Start menu, so they can be watched without accessing the full app.
The release of this new app comes shortly after Wuaki announced a deal with HBO to bring a number of the premium cabler’s titles, such as Game Of Thrones, Girls and Looking, to the service. Those programmes will be available via the app alongside other titles from the BBC, ITV, Warner Bros, Disney, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
“We’re really excited to bring Wuaki’s HD quality content to Windows 8.1 devices for the first time”, said Jacinto Roca, Founder and CEO of Wuaki.tv. “At Wuaki.tv, we are committed to providing the best possible user experience and HD quality plays an important role within that. Our users are increasingly used to seeing the latest movies in high definition on their Smart TVs, consoles, and other devices, and now they can add their PC or laptop to this list too.”
