UKTV has reached a deal with Antix Productions for a new season of ghost hunting series Most Haunted.
The new season of Most Haunted, which consists of 10 episodes, will air on Really this August and will see Yvette Fielding and the team investigate purported paranormal activity in locations across the UK including The Royal Court Theatre in Lancashire and Sheffield’s National Emergency Services Museum. Celebrity’s lined up for the Most Haunted include Ben Foden and the England Rugby Team.
“This is without doubt our best series yet”, said Most Haunted host Yvette Fielding. “We are so pleased Most Haunted has found its exclusive new home on Really – the home of paranormal programming.”
The deal between UKTV and Antix, which was brokered by UKTV’s Emma Sparks and Antix’s Karl Beattie, sees Most Haunted return to UK television screens for the first time in close to three years, following Sky decision to cancel the series back in October 2011. Most Haunted joins a strong line up of paranormal content on Really which also includes Ghost Hunters, I Spied Evil, Paranormal Witness and Killer Contact.
“Television was too quiet without Most Haunted so we answered fans’ calls and brought it back. And where better for it to be than Really?”, said Antix’s Karl Beattie. “Really has fully immersed itself in this genre and does it better than any other channel, so we are proud to be working with them.”
While UKTV’s Acquisitions and Co-Productions Manager Emma Sparks added: “This stand-out genre classic will captivate our viewers, who continue to be fascinated by the supernatural. Schedule staples such as Paranormal Witness and Ghost Adventures perform exceptionally well for the channel, drawing high viewing figures and encouraging a huge level of digital engagement.”
