The season four finale of Game Of Thrones posted gains of 32% on the audience for the season three finale, HBO has announced.
The final outing of this season of Game of Thrones averaged 7.1 million viewers at 9pm last night, up some 32% on the season three finale. With two encore airings, the episode saw its gross audience rise to 9.3 million viewers.
In its initial 9pm airing, new episodes of Game of Thrones have been averaging 6.8 million viewers this season, which is up 37% on the season three averages. HBO also noted that this season saw Game of Thrones become their highest ever rated original series with a gross audience of 18.6 million viewers.
Elsewhere, Silicon Valley averaged 5.7 million viewers across its 8 episode freshman run, making it HBO’s most viewed comedy amongst their current crop of half-hour shows; while Veep closed out its third season with a gross audience of 4.6 million viewers, making it the highest rated season of the political comedy series to date.
