WE TV has announced that their first original scripted series, The Divide, will premiere on Wednesday July 16th at 9/8c with a two-hour premiere, before moving to its regular 10pm time-slot the following week.
The Divide explores the personal cost of morality, ambition, ethics, politics, and race in today’s justice system. As an impassioned case worker with The Innocence Initiative, Christine Rosa delves into the case of a death-row inmate she believes was wrongly convicted of a young family’s heinous murder 12 years earlier. She chases down new evidence in a search for the truth and confronts an equally passionate district attorney, Adam Page, whose view of justice is colored by shades of grey. Throughout the journey, Christine and Adam’s pasts resurface as they are faced with the question of one man’s guilt or innocence intertwined with their own personal histories.
The drama, which WE TV picked up to series back in July 2013, was originally developed for sister network AMC and was created by Richard LaGravenese and Tony Goldwyn, best known for playing President Fitz Grant on ABC’s Scandal. The Divide is produced by AMC Studios and stars Marin Ireland (Homeland), Damon Gupton (Rake), Joe Anderson (The River), Aunjanue Ellis (The Mentalist), Clarke Peters (The Wire) and Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation). Tricon Films & Television is handling global distribution.
