TNT has picked up their drama pilot Proof to series with a ten episode order, the network announced today.

Proof follows Dr Carolyn Tyler, a brilliant surgeon who has suffered the recent, devastating loss of her teenage son, the breakup of her marriage and a growing estrangement from their daughter. Carolyn is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings and other supernatural phenomena. Her goal is to find verifiable proof to life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?

The drama series is being produced in-house by TNT Originals and stars Jennifer Beals (The L Word), Matthew Modine (Weeds), Joe Morton (Scandal), Callum Blue (Royal Pains), Edi Gathegi (Justified), Annie Thurman (The Hunger Games), Sean Gleeson (Doctors, Cold Mountain) and newcomer Caroline Rose Kaplan. The script was written by Rob Bragin, who serves as an executive producer alongside Kyra Sedgwick, Tom Jacobson, Jill Littman and Alex Graves.

Proof is a fascinating series that takes on one of our most compelling questions: What happens when we die?” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “Jennifer Beals does a terrific job bringing her complex character to life, and she’s surrounded by an outstanding ensemble cast. We’re especially thrilled to be collaborating once again with Kyra Sedgwick, whose work on The Closer helped pave the way for TNT’s ever-growing slate of hit original series.”

With the pick up, Proof joins a growing line up of original dramas at TNT which also includes Dallas, Major Crimes, Falling Skies, Franklin & Bash, Rizzoli & Isles, Legends, The Last Ship and Murder In The First. Proof was one of four pilots that TNT had in development this cycle. Of the remaining three, cop drama Public Morals is expected to get a pick up while both Agent X and Guilt By Association are not expected to move forward.
