Sky Living Picks Up UK Rights To ABC’s ‘Scandal’

Scandal - Season 2

ABC’s hit series Scandal has found a new UK home on Sky Living after BSkyB closed a deal with Disney UK & Ireland.

Sky Living is set to play host to Olivia Pope & Associates.

The channel has sealed a deal with Disney UK & Ireland to acquire future seasons of the ABC Studios produced drama. With said deal, Sky Living becomes the exclusive UK home for the series from season three onwards, which will launch on the channel this Summer. The first two seasons of Scandal can be watched via Sky’s On-Demand services.

“Living dramas are known for compelling storytelling, engaging characters and intricate relationships and Scandal has all of the above in spades”, said Antonia Hurford-Jones, Director of Sky Living. “It is the most addictive series and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with our customers.  Working with the incredibly talented Shonda and Betsy again will be a delight.”

While Catherine Powell, Disney’s Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Media Distribution for EMEA, added: “SCANDAL combines incredibly gripping plotlines with strong performances from its cast to make one of the most irresistible hours of TV that you can experience, with the high production values and emotional pull that ABC Studios delivers.”

The announcement comes after word leaked out earlier this week that Channel 4’s digi-net More4, who initially aired the first two seasons of Scandal in the UK, would not be airing the show’s third season. Sky’s deal with Disney also comes shortly ahead of the Upfront presentations in New York City, where ABC is expected to formally announced that they have ordered a fourth season of the Kerry Washington fronted drama.
