ITV has acquired Fox’s new reality series I Wanna Marry “Harry”, which recently launched in the United States. The reality series, produced by UK indie Zig Zag Productions, is set to premiere on diginet ITV2 on Wednesday June 4th at 9pm.
I Wanna Marry “Harry” sees a group of 12 diverse American women travel to England for a chance of a lifetime with a man whom they think is Britain’s most eligible bachelor – Prince Harry. In the first episode Prince Harry look alike Matthew Hicks throws a lavish masquerade ball where he reveals himself to the ladies for the first time. Each week he handpicks one lucky gal to take on an extravagant adventure, while another’s dream of “happily ever after” is dashed, when she is asked to leave the estate. When the choice is down to one woman, Matthew will have to reveal the truth of his identity.
The I Wanna Marry “Harry” format was created by Danny Fenton, Chief Executive Officer of Zig Zag Productions. He serves as and executive producer on the series, produced by Zig Zag and Ryan Seacrest Productions, alongside Kevin Utton, Matt Gould, Ryan Seacrest, Adam Sher, Heather Schuster, David Tibballs and Rebecca Eisen.
It is understood that ITV2’s acquisition of I Wanna Marry “Harry” comes after a rather heated bidding war between ITV and several other UK broadcasters. The series was always expected to land a UK sale given the likely controversy and interest from the UK press that I Wanna Marry “Harry” would stir up.
