Fox Hands Series Order To Batman Prequel ‘Gotham’

Fox has handed a 13 episode series order to the Warner Bros produced Batman prequel Gotham, making it the third drama series that the network has picked up for their 2014-2015 schedule.

Gotham is based on based on the DC Comics characters and examines the early years of James Gordon in his years as a GCPD homicide detective, as well as the early years of Batman and the iconic villains of Gotham City.

The series features a large cast which includes Ben McKenzie (Southland), Donal Logue (Sons of Anarchy), Sean Pertwee (Jo), Robin Lord Taylor (The Walking Dead), Zabryna Guevara (Burn Notice), Erin Richards (Being Human), Zabryna Guevara (Burn Notice), Jada Pinkett Smith (Hawthorne), David Mazouz (Touch) and Camren Bicondova.

The high-profile entry from The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller and Warner Bros Television had long been considered a frontrunner for a series pick up, ever since the project landed at the network in September 2013. The drama, which is executive produced by Heller and director Danny Cannon, becomes the third drama that Fox has ordered for next season alongside Backstrom and Hieroglyph.
