DreamWorks Dragons

Streaming service Netflix is set to become the exclusive home for all further seasons of the award winning animated series DreamWorks Dragons , Netflix and DreamWorks announced today.

Based on DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon film series, DreamWorks Dragons aired its first two seasons on Cartoon Network; season three onwards will be available exclusively on Netflix in all territories where the streaming service has a presence. The cast for the series includes Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and TJ Miller.

Netflix said that the new episodes would bridge the gap between the first feature film and the much-anticipated sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2, which hits cinemas this Summer. From the origin of Hiccup’s new flight suit and the secrets of his dragon blade to the young Viking’s budding romance with Astrid, the series gives viewers rich details of the larger narrative with the introduction of new dragons, exotic places and worlds unknown.

“The How to Train Your Dragon franchise has been incredible to work with,” said Shworunners Art Brown and Douglas Sloan. “There is so much rich material available to us in the TV world that we can really dig in and create a different yet complementary experience to the feature films.”

While Cindy Holland, Vice-President of Original Content for Netflix, added: “We are happy to be adding Dragons to our growing slate of original series for kids. This is one of DreamWorks Animation’s most beloved set of characters and we know that kids and families will be enjoying them for years to come.”
