TalkTalk and FilmFlex – the video-on-demand service provider which is a joint venture between Disney and Sony – have closed a content deal which will see more the 1000 on-demand titles added to TalkTalk TV’s Essentials TV and Plus TV packages through their YouView platform.

The deal, which TalkTalk said covered “hundreds of brand new on-demand movies”, takes effect today and also covers titles from the big Hollywood Studios and independent distributors. Some of those titles, which are available to rent from TalkTalk Box Office, include Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and American Hustle.

As part of the deal with FilmFlex, the new titles being added to TalkTalk will also be made available on a range of mobile devices in the not-too-distant future. The FilmFlex deal follows on from TalkTalk’s recent announcement that they were adding seven Sky entertainment channels to their Plus TV package.

“YouView from TalkTalk is Britain’s fastest growing TV business and is fast becoming a destination for family entertainment,” said Tristia Harrison, Managing Director of TalkTalk Consumer. “We have big ambitions for the service and continue to develop and enhance our offering to give our customers even more of the TV and films they love, all at a great TalkTalk price. This partnership with the movie specialist expertise of FilmFlex will help take us to the next level and gives our TV customers even more of the best content.”
