Sky1 has closed a deal with Disney Media Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to CBS’ drama series Intelligence, TVWise has learned. The show’s first season, which wrapped it run in the US just this past week, is set to premiere on Sky1 on Thursday April 17th at 9pm, with a double-bill.

Penned by Michael Seitzman, Intelligence follows a unit inside U.S. Cyber Command that has been created around one agent with a very special gift — a microchip that has been implanted in his brain that allows him to access the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Intelligence is produced by ABC Studios and stars Meghan Ory, Josh Holloway, Marg Helgenberger, Michael Rady, James Martinez, PJ Byrne and John Billingsley.

With the pick up, Intelligence becomes the third US series to find a UK home on Sky1 in the past two weeks, following on from last week’s news that the channel had also picked up The CW’s teen drama Star-Crossed and NBC’s comedy series About A Boy. It also becomes the fifth series from the 2013-2014 season to land at BSkyB, who, in addition to the aforementioned series, have also acquired 24: Live Another Day for Sky1 and The Blacklist for Sky Living.

“I’m delighted to be bringing this high-tech, breathlessly paced, exciting thriller to Sky 1 HD exclusively in the UK”, said Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky1.

While Catherine Powell, Senior Vice-President & General Manager of Media Distribution for The Walt Disney Company EMEA, added: “Intelligence offers intrigue, drama, and a strong cast, combined with ABC Studios’ signature irresistible storytelling. We are sure that Sky 1’s viewers will be gripped.”
