ION Television is adding another Canadian series to their line up.

The basic cable network has acquired the off-network rights to Canadian co-production Rookie Blue from the Disney-ABC Television Group, with plans to launch the drama this Fall.

Rookie Blue, which kicks of its fifth season on ABC this Summer, becomes the second Canadian series to land at ION in recent weeks, with the network having also recently taken the rights to The Listener. ION was also previously home to Canadian series Flashpoint.

“We’re excited to enter into this agreement with the Disney-ABC Television Group and provide our audience with this fresh, new police drama,” said Brandon Burgess, Chairman and CEO of ION Media Networks. “Rookie Blue fits seamlessly with our current roster of hit series and reinforces our commitment to viewers.”

Created by Morwyn Brebner, Tassie Cameron & Ellen Vanstone, Rookie Blue follows a group of young and ambitious rookie cops as they navigate the emotional trials and tribulations of their professional and personal lives. The drama series is produced by ICF Films & Entertainment One and stars Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Charlotte Sullivan, Enuka Okuma, Travis Milne, Ben Bass and Peter Mooney.
