Turner Broadcasting have poached Disney exec Humphrey Black to head the broadcaster’s content distribution business across EMEA.
Black has been appointed to the newly created position of Vice President of Media Distribution for EMEA. He will be based in London and will report to Giorgio Stock, President of Turner Broadcasting EMEA.
His responsibilities will include creating a distribution strategy for Turner, managing relationships with key service providers, and identifying the importance of new technologies on the profitability of the distribution business.
Prior to joining Turner Black served in a similar role for The Walt Disney Company as Director of Channel Distribution for EMEA. In that position he was responsible for licensing all of Disney’s channels and branded VOD services across the region. He has also held key roles at Virgin Media and Spectrum Strategy Consultants.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Humphrey, who brings the solid experience and the vision required to lead Turner’s strategy in this extremely important area”, said Giorgio Stock, President of Turner Broadcasting EMEA. “This reflects a further step in our commitment to developing customised and lasting relationships with our distribution partners in an increasingly dynamic and complex marketplace, and is critical for the growth and development of our business across the region.”
