E4 has unveiled the cast for their newest original drama series Glue, which hails from This Is England scribe Jack Thorne.
Yasmin Paige (Submarine), Callum Turner (Leaving), Charlotte Spencer (Line of Duty), Faye Marsay (Fresh Meat), Jessie Cave (Harry Potter), Tommy McDonnell (Starred Up), Billy Howle (New Worlds), Tommy Lawrence Knight (Waterloo Road), Kerry Fox (Bright Star), Jonny Owen (Shameless), Kierston Wareing (Luther), Steve Oram (Sightseers) and Jordan Stephens have all been cast in the 8 part drama series.
Glue is set in Overton, a tiny farming village in the English countryside. The drama is about murder and secrets. When the body of Caleb, a teenage traveller, is found dead underneath the wheels of a tractor, the village’s inhabitants – his friends – are forced to open up their world and watch their secrets spill out.
The 8 episode drama was created and written by Jack Thorne, whose previous credits include This Is England, The Fables and Skins. Glue is set up at Eleven Films, who are producing the drama for E4, with Joel Wilson serving as the series producer and Jamie Campbell on board to executive produce. Production on Glue got underway this week with E4 eyeing a late 2014 premiere.
“The team at Eleven have pulled together an incredible cast for Jack’s thrilling scripts – the line-up reads like a roll-call of some of the brightest up-and-coming talent around”, said Sophie Gardiner, Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor. “We can’t wait for them to bring our bold new series to life. Brace yourselves for a trip to the countryside…E4-style.”
