Netflix UK Picks Up Streaming Rights To ‘Sherlock’, ‘Call The Midwife’ & More

Netflix UK & Ireland has secured the streaming rights to a number of BBC dramas, including Sherlock and Call The Midwife.

Launching today on Netflix UK & Ireland is the first two seasons of Sherlock, comprising six episodes; the sixth season of Doctor Who, starring Matt Smith; the first two seasons of BBC One’s Call The Midwife; and the first season of romantic drama series Last Tango In Halifax.

These are the latest BBC series to land on Netflix UK & Ireland in recent months, joining the streaming services current offerings of Silk, The Office, Top Gear, Luther and the first five seasons of the new Doctor Who. The launches also come shortly after Netflix UK & Ireland struck deals with Miramax and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution for the exclusive rights to From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, and the streaming rights to the first two seasons of Homeland and American Horror Story, respectively.
