Netflix has secured the streaming rights to the TVNZ comedy series Short Poppies for the US, Canada and the UK & Ireland.
The show’s 8 episode first season will premiere on the streaming service in those territories on Thursday April 3rd.
Created by and starring Rhys Darby, Short Poppies follows journalist David Farrier as he meets the not so ordinary characters in a small New Zealand town. What we discover is that the ordinary New Zealander is anything but boring in this hilarious, quirky mockumentary.
The is the latest original series from down under to be licensed by Netflix for broadcast in the key territories of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom & Ireland. It follows in the footsteps of Australian drama Rake, the basis of the Fox drama of the same name, which Netflix picked up back in February.
