NBC has handed early renewals to three of their top performing dramas: Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Grimm.
All three will return during the 2014-2015 season alongside The Blacklist, which was renewed for a second season some months ago. In addition, as Bob Greenblatt let slip at the TCA Winter Press Tour, NBC has confirmed that Parks & Recreation has been renewed for a seventh season. Also renewed for next season on the un-scripted side is The Voice, Celebrity Apprentice and The Biggest Loser.
The renewals of all three had been expected given that they have been strong players for NBC in the ratings, all helping to grow NBC’s ratings performance by 20% year-on-year. Chicago Fire has been averaging 10.6 million viewers and a 3.1 A18-49 rating, making it the number one drama in its Tuesday night 10pm time-slot. Spin-off Chicago Fire has been averaging 8.9 million viewers and a 2.5 A18-49 rating, while Grimm is averaging 8.1 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating – Friday night’s number one show in the demo.
