A&E is making some changes to their Monday night schedule.
The cable network has pulled Those Who Kill – which stars Chloë Sevigny and James Morrison – from their line up, after airing only two episodes of the series. With the serial killer drama having been pulled, A&E is moving Bates Motel back an hour to fill the Monday night 10pm time-slot – the same slot the series occupied when it debuted last year. Repeat episodes of Bates Motel will also air at 9pm, leading into the new episode at 10pm; while A&E said they planned to relaunch Those Who Kill later this year.
The move to yank Those Who Kill from the schedule comes after the drama has struggled to make any kind of a dent in the ratings. A&E utilised an often used broadcast strategy by debuting their new show behind an established hit (Bates Motel). That strategy failed, however. The pilot episode of Those Who Kill debuted to 1.4 million viewers and a 0.5 A18-49 rating, considerably down on its Bates Motel lead in which managed just over 3 million viewers and a 1.0 A18-49 rating. Week 2 fared no better with series sinking to 840K viewers, prompting A&E’s decision to pull it from the schedule.
