Syfy UK has picked up the UK rights to the backdoor pilot Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome from international distributor NBCUniversal International Television Distribution. The two-hour movie is set to premiere on this side of the pond on Syfy UK on Sunday February 23rd at 9pm.
The pick up of Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome comes more than a year after TVWise first reported that executives at the Universal Networks International owned and operated channel had expressed interest in acquiring the TV movie. It also follows Syfy UK’s acquisition of another busted pilot from the US Syfy network: Red Faction: Origins. That project, which was also a TV movie/backdoor pilot, was set in the world of THQ’s Red Faction video game franchise, starred Robert Patrick (The X-Files) & Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe), and aired on Syfy UK in April 2013.
A pilot for a proposed BSG prequel series that was toplined by The Musketeers star Luke Pasqualino, Blood & Chrome takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, gifted fighter pilot, William Adama (Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and hungry for action, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton). With only 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle as much as Adama craves its onset.
