Netflix has picked up a third season of their original series House of Cards, TVWise has confirmed.
Created by Beau Willimon, House of Cards follows Francis Underwood, the House Majority Whip. Underwood is the politician’s politician – masterful, beguiling, charismatic and ruthless. He and his equally ambitious wife Claire will stop at nothing to ensure their ascendancy. The drama series is produced by Trigger Street Productions & Media Rights Capital and stars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Gerald McRaney, Mahershala Ali, Sebastian Arcelus, Kristen Connolly, Nathan Darrow, Sakina Jaffrey, Michael Kelly and Molly Parker.
The pick up of a third season comes just ahead of the launch of the show’s second season, which premieres globally on Friday February 14th. It also comes after lengthy negotiations between Netflix and the series producers regarding the future of the series, which had initially only received a two season/twenty-six episode pick up.
