NBC is pulling the plug on Michael J Fox’s eponymous comedy series, TVWise has confirmed,
The network has pulled the comedy from their schedule; effectively cancelling the series. The comedy was set to return, along with the remaining episodes of fellow cancelled comedy series Sean Saves The World, on February 27th; instead Hollywood Game Night will assume the Thursday night 9pm slot, leaving seven of The Michael J Fox Show‘s episodes unaired. The news of the cancellation was first reported by Vulture’s Josef Adalian.
The cancellation follows on from another Thursday night series, Sean Saves The World, also being axed. Both had failed to make much of a dent in the ratings, with the most recent episode of The Michael J. Fox Show pulling in 2.2 million viewers and a 0.7 A18-49 rating. The failure of both freshman series cuts NBC’s Thursday night comedy block in half leaving only veteran series Parks & Recreation, which has received an unofficial pick up for a seventh season; and Community, which is also expected to return next season.
