National Geographic have scrapped their plans for their first scripted series Act of Valor, TVWise has confirmed.
“NGC is unfortunately not moving forward with Act Of Valor in favor of other scripted projects we have under consideration that will be announced soon” a representative of the network said in a statement.
Based on the 2012 feature film, the Act of Valor series was to be written by Erik Jendresen and would have told the story of pararescuemen, also known as PJs, who are the unsung heroes that are tasked with recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments. StudioCanal’s Tandem Communications – who are behind Crossing Lines, which was recently renewed for a second season – were set to serve as both the studio and international distributor on the proposed series.
The news that National Geographic is abandoning plans for Act of Valor, which was first reported by Deadline, comes after the network, known for its factual output, signalled its intention to get into the scripted game with Seal Team Six, Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy, all of which proved to be ratings hits for the net.
