CBS Orders ‘Scorpion’ Pilot, The CW Hands Pilot Order To ‘The Messengers’

CBS and corporate sibling The CW have handed out pilot orders to drama projects from the team behind Sleepy Hollow and The Expendables‘ Basil Iwanyk, respectively.

Scorpion, which has received a pilot order at CBS, hails from Breakout Kings c0-creator Nick Santora, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and director Justin Lin. The drama revolves around an eccentric genius and his international network of super-geniuses who form the last line of defense against the complex threats of the modern age. CBS Television Studios is producing with Santora, Kurtzman, Orci, Lin, Heater Kadin and Scooter Braun serving as executive producers.

Meanwhile, over at The CW, the network has handed a pilot order to science-fiction drama The Messengers, which hails from producer Basil Iwanyk. Penned by Eoghan O’Donnell, the drama picks up after a mysterious object crashes on Earth and follows a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from an energy pulse from said object. However, they later awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse. CBS Television Studios is producing with O’Donnell, Iwanyk, Kent Kubena and Ava Jamshidi serving as executive producers.
