The Amazon owned and operated streaming service LOVEFiLM has struck deals with HIT Entertainment, Ludorum and DreamWorks Classics to expand their line up of kids content.
These new deals give LOVEFiLM members access to stream such kids series as Pingu, Where‘ s Wally, Bob the Builder and Kipper. Under the streaming service’s deal with HIT Entertainment, LOVEFiLM has picked up over 50 episodes of Thomas & Friends and a number of exclusive first run Thomas movies including Blue Mountain Mystery, Misty Island Rescue and Day of the Diesels. While the deal with Ludorum gives LOVEFiLM exclusive streaming rights to Chuggington. In addition to the series listed above, the streaming service has also renewed their licensing deals for a number of series including Rupert Bear, Postman Pat, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Transylvanian Pet Shop, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Noddy in Toyland and more.
“The addition of this new children’s content enhances our already fantastic range of iconic characters and classic shows”, said Chris Bird, LOVEFiLM’s Director of Content Strategy. “Our streaming service is particularly suited to family content, and parents and their kids can now enjoy an even broader variety of family-friendly entertainment whenever they want, however they want.”
These are the latest in a long line streaming deals for kids content, as competition in the area – specifically between Netflix and LOVEFiLM – is heating up. LOVEFiLM has previous inked deals with BBC Worldwide, DHX Media, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, Saban Brands and NBCUniversal International Television Distribution to build a vast library of kids content. Meanwhile, competitor Netflix recently producer and launched their first original kids series Turbo FAST.
