Fan favourite Jonathan Banks has joined the cast of AMC’s Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul as a series regular, TVWise has confirmed.

As first reported by Deadline, Banks will be reprising his role as former cop turned PI/Gus Fring’s head of security Mike Ehrmantraut, a character he played for the better part of three seasons on parent series Breaking Bad. He becomes only the second actor to officially board the series, joining series lead Bob Odenkirk, though more cast members from Breaking Bad are expected to appear in the spin-off.

Created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, Better Call Saul tells the story of mall-based super lawyer Saul Goodman in the years before he became Walter White’s attorney. From parking tickets to mass murder, from slip-and-fall to bond fraud, Saul handles it all. The series is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and stars Bob Odenkirk. The series is expected to bow on AMC in the US in November, while Netflix will broadcast the series in several countries including the UK & Ireland shortly thereafter.
