Amazon Takes Exclusive Streaming Rights To CBS’ ‘Extant’

In a deal identical to that which the two parties struck for Under The Dome, CBS and Amazon have agreed a content licensing agreement for Extant, the event series which is set to premiere Summer 2014. Said deal makes Amazon Prime Instant Video the exclusive premium subscription home to the series is the US, with unlimited streaming of all the series’ episodes available to their members four days after their initial broadcast on CBS.

Created by Mickey Fisher, Extant is a futuristic thriller about a female astronaut (Halle Berry) trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space.  Her experiences lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history. The drama series is being produced by Amblin Television & CBS Television Studios with Steven Spielberg, Greg Walker, Mickey Fisher, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank serving as executive producers. CBS Studios International will handle global distribution.
