ABC is adding a further two comedy pilots to their roster, having picked up comedies from Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich and Suburgatory creator Emily Kapnek, TVWise has learned.
Damaged Goods is a single-camera comedy about the sexual politics that have changed between men and women in the postfeminist era. The comedy, which hails from Lauren Iungerich, is set up at Warner Bros. Television with Iungerich executive producing. The official pilot order comes after the project landed at ABC back in September 2013 with a hefty pilot production commitment.
Penned by Emily Kapnek, whose current ABC series Suburgatory may not make it to a fourth season after narrowly securing a third season renewal last year, Selfie is a single camera comedy inspired by My Fair Lady. The comedy tells the story of a self-obsessed 20-something woman who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked. After suffering a very public breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media “followers” than she ever imagined – but for all the wrong reasons. She then enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image. Piece of Pie productions and Warner Bros. Television are producing with Kapnek also executive producing.
