The Hebburn Christmas special will premiere on BBC Two on Sunday December 22nd at 10:30pm, it has been announced.
Based on the life of stand up comedian Jason Cook, Hebburn tells the tale of the Dixon family and their son, Jack, who has left Tyneside for the bright lights and glamour of Manchester. He’s secretly married a middle class Jewish girl, Sarah, and realises that it is about time he introduced her to his family. The comedy series is produced by Channel X North & Baby Cow Manchester and stars Chris Ramsey as Jack, Kimberley Nixon as his wife Sarah and Vic Reeves as Tony, Jack’s dad. In the special, Ben and Susan arrive for Christmas Eve in Hebburn and bring Susan’s mum Millie. Jack and Sarah fly in from Switzerland with tales of the whitest snow and the greatest university, but soon reveal that their life isn’t quite so perfect. Ben’s car is stolen and Ramsey is enlisted as the closest thing Hebburn has to a private detective, but it means they’re all stuck in the family home for Christmas. Eventually Pauline and Susan forge an unlikely bond over the festivities, as do Dot and Millie, mainly because everyone else hates them.
