BBC One’s one-off dramedy Gangsta Granny will premiere on Boxing Day (Thursday December 26th) at 6:05pm, it has been announced.
Based on the novel of the same name by David Walliams and adapted for television by Walliams, Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley, Gangsta Granny tells the story of schoolboy Ben, who is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma’s house; all she wants to do is stay in and play Scrabble and eat cabbage soup. What Ben doesn’t know about his grandma is that she was once an international jewel thief, and for her entire life, she has been plotting to steal the Crown Jewels. Now, she needs Ben’s help. The one-off is produced by BBC In-House Comedy and stars David Walliams, Miranda Hart (Miranda), Rob Bryden (Gavin & Stacey), Julia McKenzie (Agatha Christie’s Marple), Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Jocelyn Jee Esien (Big School), Harish Patel (Mr Stink), Max Olesker, Steven Spiers (Extras) Reece Buttery (The Dumping Ground).
