There will be no fourth season for USA Network’s Necessary Roughness. The network has cancelled the Callie Thorne fronted drama after airing three seasons of the series.
Created by Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, Necessary Roughness follows Long Island therapist Dr. Dani Santino, whose personal life unravelled when she found her husband cheating. Diving fully into her work, she takes on the challenge of rehabilitating a bad boy professional New York Hawks football player whose off-the-field antics threaten his career and the team franchise. The drama series is a Sony Pictures Television and Universal Cable Productions co-production and stars Callie Thorne, Mehcad Brooks, Marc Blucas and Scott Cohen.
“We are proud of this show and its writers, which had a unique ability to address topical subjects before they unfolded in real life on the sports pages”, USA Network said in a statement. “We want to thank Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, the incredible cast led by Golden Globe nominee Callie Thorne and our partners at Sony Television.”
