UKTV has today made its full network of channels – which includes Alibi, Dave, Watch, Really, Good Food, Drama, Home, Yesterday, Eden and Gold – available on Virgin’s TV Anywhere service, which itself is available on PC, iOS and Android mobile and tablet devices.
This deal marks the first time that all of UKTV’s linear channels have been made available as part of a multiplatform service and means that users of Virgin TV Anywhere will be able to watch programmes from across all 10 of UKTV’s channels, and in the future will include such content as Believe, which is set to air on Watch next year, and Alibi’s King & Maxwell, which is also set to premiere in 2014.
“The extension of our partnership with Virgin Media is a mark of UKTV’s commitment to providing viewers with even more access to our award-winning and increasingly popular channels”, said Keith Porritt, UKTV’s Executive Director of Commercial. “We have committed to spending £110 million on-screen this year, making our channels stronger and more exciting, and now Virgin Media customers will be able to view these channels anywhere they like.”
While Scott Kewley, Director of Digital Entertainment at Virgin Media, added: “We’re delighted our customers are the first to get to watch every UKTV channel wherever they are. With the arrival of these new channels, Virgin TV Anywhere is far and away the leading service for those who want to take the best of their entertainment with them out of the home at no extra cost.”
