Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) and Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty) have joined the cast of the Spooks feature film Spooks: The Greater Good, TVWise has learned.
Harington has been cast as Will Crombie, an ex-MI5 agent who, due to the fact that he worked under the agency’s counter-terrorism chief Harry Pearce, is handpicked to lead the investigation into Pearce’s disappearance; while Ehle has been cast as Dame Geraldine Maltby, the Deputy Director-General of MI5. They join previously announced main cast member Peter Firth who is reprising the role of Harry Pearce, which he originally played for ten seasons on Spooks between 2002 and 2011.
Initially announced last week, Spooks: The Greater Good picks up shortly after MI5 apprehends a terrorist mastermind only to lose him in a routine prisoner transfer. Section D Chief Harry Pearce is blamed for the error, kicking off an investigation into a massive conspiracy which spans the globe. The script was written by long-time Spooks writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, with Bharat Nalluri attached to direct. Kudos Film & TV and Shine Pictures are producing the film, which is set to enter production early next year. The executive producers are Kudos’ Jane Featherstone and Shine’s Stephen Garrett.
