Rizzoli & Isles has found its new showrunner. TNT and Warner Horizon Television have set veteran writer/producer Jan Nash, whose previous credits include Without A Trace and Memphis Beat, to lead the hit series for its upcoming 15 episode fifth season, TVWise has confirmed.

Created by Tess Gerritsen and developed for television by Janet Tamaro, Rizzoli & Isles revolves around Jane Rizzoli, a tough-as-nails Boston police detective, and Maura Isles, a smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner from a privileged background. Despite being complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry and strong working relationship that lets them solve complex murder mysteries in the city of Boston. The drama series is produced by Warner Horizon Television and stars Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander, Lorraine Bracco, Bruce McGill, Jordan Bridges and Brian Goodman.

The appointment of Nash as showrunner, which was first reported by Deadline, comes after series creator and former showrunner Janet Tamaro chose not to renew her contract for the upcoming fifth season. Tamaro will however stay on as a consulting producer as the writers of Rizzoli & Isles face the issue of how to tackle the death of series co-star Lee Thompson Young. The final four episodes of Rizzoli & Isles‘ fourth season are set to air on TNT in February, with season five following in the Summer.
