Seth MacFarlane is getting another animated comedy on Fox’s schedule. The network has handed a 13 episode order to Bordertown, an animated comedy from Family Guy‘s Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane which is set to premiere during the 2014-2015 season.
Created by Hentemann, Bordertown will take a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring throughout America. Set in a fictitious desert town near the Mexico border, the series centers on the intertwining daily lives of two neighbors: Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales. Married and a father of three, Bud is a Border Patrol agent who feels threatened by the cultural changes that have transformed his neighborhood. Living next door to Bud is Ernesto, an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America. As Bud and Ernesto’s paths begin to cross, their families become bound by friendship, romance and conflict. The series is being produced by 20th Century Fox Television with Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane serving as executive producers & Alex Carter and Dan Vebber on board as co-executive producers.
The pick up of Bordertown comes at a time when Fox’s prime-time animated line up is going through something of a change. The network recently cancelled Family Guy spin-off The Cleveland Show and will be saying goodbye to American Dad when it moves to TBS in 2014, freeing up some space on the Animation Domination block; which includes The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers. The news of Bordertown landing a series order was first reported by TV Guide and subsequently confirmed by Fox.
