Fox International Channels’ executive Jason Thorp is to depart the company after spending the past 10 years as the head of FIC’s UK business and overseeing their European content division. Diego Londono, President & COO of FOX International Channels Europe & Africa will be assuming Jason’s responsibilities with the support of senior management in the UK and the US.

Under Thorp’s leadership FIC launched their UK entertainment channel (formerly FX UK, now FOX UK) and over the years was responsible for cementing the channel’s position as a leading pay TV channel with such acquisitions as The Wire, Breaking Bad, Dexter, True Blood and NCIS. He took on the National Geographic channels in 2010 improving profitability and growth over two years, whilst also launching the Fox channels portfolio in Africa. More recently, he oversaw the re-brand from FX UK to FOX UK, with his most recent job title being that of Executive Vice-President of Content for Europe and Managing Director (UK & Africa).

“Ten years ago, Jason Thorp launched the FX channel, now FOX, and over time he built it into one of the top 5 pay TV brands in the UK”, said Hernan Lopez, President and CEO of Fox International Channels. “Along the way, he built a great team and made invaluable contributions to FIC around the world. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”

While Jason Thorp added: “Having spent ten years driving growth for the UK channels business, and being instrumental in driving FIC’s push for content ownership, I am well overdue a change of scenery. I’m leaving the business in good health with a great team of people and am excited to be able to start thinking about challenges outside of the FIC portfolio. Firstly though, after twenty plus years with no more than a fortnight’s break, I will be spending some time with my family.”
