USA Network has renewed their hit drama series Covert Affairs for a 16 episode fifth season, which is set to air next Summer.
Created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, Covert Affairs follows Annie Walker, a recent CIA recruit who is assigned to work in the agency’s Domestic Protection Division under Joan Campbell, the wife of the Director of the National Clandestine Service. Annie is assisted in her duties by her colleague and love interest Auggie Anderson, a blind CIA analyst. Produced by Universal Cable Productions, the drama series stars Piper Perabo, Christopher Gorman, Karrie Matchett, Anne Dudek and Peter Gallagher.
“No other series on television travels the globe to tell a story like Covert Affairs, and we are pleased to bring it back for another season” said Chris McCumber, President of USA Network. “With its intricate storytelling, diverse characters and authentic locations, the series continues to be a cornerstone in our line-up of USA’s original signature dramas.”
The renewal of Covert Affairs comes after the series has aired 10 episodes of its 16 episode fourth season. Season-to-date Covert Affairs has been averaging just under 4 million viewers. With the pick up for season 5, Covert Affairs is the latest of USA’s Summer series to earn a renewal for next season. Freshman drama Graceland was recently renewed for a second season and as part of last year’s two-season pick up Royal Pains has been renewed for a sixth season, while the fate of Suits and Necessary Roughness have yet to be determined.
