Ratings: ‘The Paradise’ Pulls In 5.2 Million Viewers For Season 2 Premiere

BBC One’s period drama series The Paradise returned to strong ratings for its second season premiere last night, overnight figures have revealed.

The opening episode of the show’s second season opened to an average audience of 5.2 million viewers and a 20% share, down slightly (0.3 million viewers/5%) on the year ago series premiere of 5.5 million viewers (which subsequently consolidated to 6.6 million viewers) but up on the overnight ratings for the season one finale of 4.7 million viewers. Last night’s season premiere also outperformed the season one average overnight audience of 4.9 million viewers.

Elsewhere on Sunday night at 8pm, BBC Two’s Dive WWII: Our Secret History pulled in 1.7 million viewers and a 7% share; ITV’s The X Factor provided stiff competition with 8.9 million viewers and a 34% share; while the premiere of Channel 4’s Bigfoot Files attracted an average audience of 2.1 million viewers and a 8% share.
