PREVIOUS, October 17th: A+E Networks UK will be launching the female skewing entertainment network Lifetime in the UK in early November, TVWise has learned.
The company has set a launch date of November 4th, when Lifetime UK will assume Bio’s current slot on the Sky EPG at 156 and will be a HD channel. Lifetime UK will also be available on Virgin Media channel 242. Per A+E Networks UK, the channel will feature a mix of exclusive US content and UK commissions to allow the channel to go after female viewers; standing in direct competition to Discovery Networks International’s recently launched UK TLC channel.
At the time that A+E Networks UK announced that they would be launching Lifetime UK by the end of 2013, the company also revealed that they had sealed a deal with Sony Pictures Television and that their launch schedule would include such series as The Client List, Damages and a slew of Lifetime original movies. The channel has also commissioned an original series titled The Proposers. Since then, TVWise has broken the news that Lifetime UK has also closed deals with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution and Sony Pictures Television to acquire the exclusive first run broadcast rights to Witches of East End and Bonnie & Clyde, respectively.
