Fox has cancelled a second series from the 2013-2014 season before it has even aired.
Following on from a similar move with animated series Murder Police, the network has shut down production on Us & Them, the network’s adaptation of the BBC Three series Gavin & Stacey, after producing only six episodes of the show’s 13 episode order due to dissatisfaction with the quality of the scripts.
Officially, Fox is saying that they have merely cut the episode order for the series and it has yet to be cancelled. That said, this is an identical situation to last season’s The Goodwin Games, which had its order cut from 13 episodes to 7 and never received a back order or renewal. For all intents and purposes Us & Them has been cancelled, though the network said that they would still air the six completed episodes.
Based on BBC Three’s Gavin & Stacey, Us & Them tells the story of two very different lovers who try to make a long-distance relationship work. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and BBC Worldwide Productions and stars Jason Ritter, Alexis Bledel, Jane Kaczmarek, Dustin Ybarra, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Kurt Fuller and Ashlie Atkinson.
