BBC One has released the first image (see below) of their upcoming 10 episode drama The Musketeers, since the series – which is a co-production with BBC America – wrapped production. The show’s first season is set to premiere in early 2014.
Created by Adrian Hodges, The Musketeers is a new adaptation of the legendary tale of the three musketerrs. The series is set on the streets of seventeenth century Paris where law and order is more an idea than reality and follows the three Musketeers: Athos, Aramis and Porthos who are far more than King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards. They stand resolutely for social justice, for honour, for valour, for love and for the thrill of it. The drama series is being produced by BBC Drama Productions in association with BBC Worldwide & BBC America and stars Luke Pasqualino (Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome), Tom Burke (Great Expectations), Santiago Cabrera (Merlin), Howard Charles, Peter Capaldi (The Hour), Tamla Kari (Cuckoo), Maimie McCoy (Loving Miss Hatto), and Hugo Speer (Bedlam).
“I’m thrilled we can finally release the first image since wrapping filming on The Musketeers”, said series creator Adrian Hodges “I hope the picture gives a good idea of the look and intensity of the Musketeers themselves, and a hint of the excitement of each powerful, dramatic and action-filled episode.”
