Fox’s recently announced 12 episode limited event series 24: Live Another Day will be set in London and Europe, Fox Broadcasting and 20th Century Fox Television have announced. The series will also be produced on location in London, taking advantage of the recently instituted high-end television tax relief program and marking the first time a 24 production has filmed outside of the United States since 24: Redemption in 2008. Production on 24: Live Another Day is slated to commence in January, with Fox eyeing a Summer 2014 premiere.
24: Live Another Day is being written by Howard Gordon & David Fury and will be set several years after the events depicted in season 8. Across the 12 episodes, spanning 24 hours, former Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer will be called upon to once again save the day. The limited event series, which Fox said could be followed by additional such entries in the coming years, is being produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Entertainment & Teakwood Lane Productions and will star Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Kim Raver. The executive producers are Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Manny Coto, David Fury, Robert Cochran, Brian Grazer, Jon Cassar and Kiefer Sutherland.
“‘24’ has always had such a global sensibility,” said Kiefer Sutherland, who also serves as an executive producer on the event series. “But to be able to tell this intense ‘24’-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there…on the edge of your seat.”
Co-Showrunner and executive producer Evan Katz commented: “We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context. Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.”
While fellow Co-Showrunner and executive producer Manny Coto continued, “Jack is soon back on the run and it takes us into the streets of London and in places that break new ground for the show. We’ve shot in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Cape Town — but now we’re in London and Jack’s loose on the streets of Europe, hunted by and hunting bad guys.”
