HBO's 'The Newsroom' To Return For Third Season – TVWise

HBO’s drama series The Newsroom has been renewed for a third season and will return to the premium cable network in 2014, according to series star Jeff Daniels. He made the announcement on Twitter, stating: “It’s official. #Newsroom coming back for a Season 3.”
Officially, the network has yet to confirm the news, but a season 3 pick up has been expected for some time. The show’s second season has seen a slight up tick in the ratings and HBO President Michael Lombardo previously stated at the TCA Summer Press Tour that the odds of renewal were “excellent” and it was just a case of working around series creator Aaron Sorkin’s busy schedule.
Created by Aaron Sorkin, The Newsroom centers on a cable news anchor, his new executive producer, his newsroom staff and their boss as they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal relationships. The drama series stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher Jr, Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn.
