Christopher Egan (Kings), Alan Dale (24) and Tom Wisdom (Above Suspicion) have been cast in Syfy’s upcoming 90 minute drama pilot Dominion, TVWise has learned. The pilot, which is part of the network’s renewed push into scripted with the stated aim of having up to six scripted series airing on the network, is set to enter production later this month in Cape Town, South Africa.
Egan has been cast as Alex Lannen, an orphan with both a rebellious and protective streak who is classified as a “grunt” soldier in Michael’s Archangel Corp but he is destined for more than his lowly classification in Vega’s post-Extermination War society might indicate; Dale as Rysen, the general who led the humans to victory against the angels during the “Extermination War” and is currently the ruler of Vega (once known as Las Vegas), one of four cities left standing after the war; and Wisdom has been cast as Michael, the greatest of the warrior archangels who was instrumental in helping humanity defeat the angels during the Extermination War and is now entrenched in Vega, using his superior supernatural abilities to defend the city’s inhabitants from enemy attacks.
Based on the 2010 feature film Legion, Dominion was penned by Sons of Anarchy scribe Vaun Wilmott and is set 20 years after evil angels descended from heaven to lay waste to the human souls they felt God had favored over them. Now a reluctant “savior” must arise to protect Vega, the last remaining stronghold of humanity. The savior has more to fear than just angels, as the elites of this new society conspire to gain power for themselves. The drama is being produced by Universal Cable Productions and Bold Films, with Defiance helmer Scott Stewart, who also directed the 2010 feature upon which the series is based, attached to direct. The executive producers are Wilmott, Stewart and David Lancaster.
