CBS is beefing up on its scripted content for Summer 2014. The network has renewed its drama series Unforgettable for a 13 episode third season, which is set to air next Summer. It will be joined on CBS Summer 2014 schedule by fellow scripted entries Under The Dome, which was recently renewed for a second season; and limited series Extant, which was recently picked up with a 13 episode order.
Created by Ed Redlich, Unforgettable follows Carrie Wells, an NYPD detective who can remember everything except for what happened on the day that her sister was murdered. Carrie works as a homicide detective in a unit led by her ex-boyfriend and partner, Lieutenant Al Burns. The drama series stars produced by Sony Pictures Television & CBS Television Studios and stars Poppy Montgomery, Dylan Walsh, Jane Curtin, Tawny Cypress, Dallas Roberts and James Hiroyuki Liao.
The renewal comes after the series was initially cancelled after its first season. That cancellation was considered borderline given its ok but not great ratings performance. It was only after Sony Pictures Television began shopping the series to cable networks that CBS reversed its decision and picked up a second season of Unforgettable for Summer 2013. Currently on a mid-season break, having aired 7 of its 13 episodes, Unforgettable‘s second season has been averaging 8.2 million viewers and a 1.4 A18-49 rating.
